Arts Council of Thayer County
ACT (Arts Council of Thayer County) is a volunteer nonprofit group that was formed to operate the Majestic Theatre as a community theatre. This board of dedicated Thayer County residents who plan to continue on and promote film and other performing and fine arts in Thayer County.

Butler County Historical Society
The Butler County Historical Society originated in the minds and hearts of the David City Business and Professional Women’s Club in 1967. Lillian Sargent, then member of the Professional Women’s Club, instigated the idea of an Historical Society to preserve the heritage of the early settlers of Butler County. Three years later, in 1970, The Burlington railroad donated the Depot and gave a 100-year lease of the ground beneath to the BCHS.
Clarkson Historical Society
The Clarkson Museum contains over 5000 local heritage artifacts. Both stories of the museum are heated and air-conditioned. We are a non-profit organization financed solely by membership fees, donations, and memorials. The museum consists of two kitchens, a newly remodeled military room, a farming room with over 300 miniature tractors, school, photography, two dining rooms, two bedrooms, sitting room, medical, music, mortuary, sewing, wedding gown room, large library area, and several areas with fancy handy work, and organizations memorabilia.
Collection Museum of Falls City
The Collection Museum of Falls City features local collections of relics and collectible items, including one with 1600 items. It is a newly designated site on the National Parks Service Underground Railraod Network to Freedome.

The Dawes County Historical Museum is dedicated to the preservation of the history of Dawes County and surrounding areas of Nebraska it calls home.
The museum campus includes the 9000 square foot museum and 2 huge exhibit buildings. The campus is also home to a log house & barn, 1890’s school house, pioneer church, and of course, the C&NW caboose, which symbolizes the railroad that came through this area and why the town of Chadron is located where it is today.
Descendants of DeWitty, NE

Dixon County Historical Society
With exhibits representing the lives of Dixon County residents from 1856 through today, the Dixon County Historical Society Museum is a fascinating look back at the history of Dixon County. Located in Allen, the Museum features items from the schools, churches, homes and farms of former county residents:
Fillmore County Historical Society
The Fillmore County Museum, located at 600 6th Ave., was originally the Fairmont Creamery Office. Dr. Ashby purchased the building in 1907 and used the space as a doctor’s office until the 1960’s. In the early 1980’s, the building and some original contents were donated by the Ashby family to the Fillmore County Historical Society for a museum. Since opening in the summer of 1986, an average of 1,000 visitors a year have toured the museum. The museum is open by appointment. Haigler Community Foundation
The Haigler Community Foundation, organized in 2014, has become a vital entity in keeping our rural community alive and well; and has a well known presence in our southwest Nebraska area. The Foundation has established these Haigler Museums: One Room Country Schoolhouse, Conoco Station, Cornerstone, and Jail; and also operates a Sunshine Thrift Store, Artisan’s Market, Book Nook, and WiFi Center at the Cornerstone Center.
Hall County Historical Society
The Hall County Historical Society was founded in 1922 and organized in 1923 by a group of members belonging to the Liederkranz, a German singing society established in 1870. The founders of the Hall County Historical Society included both descendants of the 1857 group, who first established a colony in Hall County, and individuals who were committed to preserving artifacts and stories about the county’s origin. It is the oldest perpetual county historical society in Nebraska.
Hastings Museum
Founded in 1927, Hastings Museum is the largest municipal museum between Chicago and Denver. We feature a Theatre with a 65-foot wide screen, full domed Planetarium, and dozens of animal species set in their natural habitats, allowing you to get an up close look at many amazing creatures!

Indianola Historical Society
Founded as a result of the Burlington & Missouri River Railroad’s expansion, Indianola has a fascinating history that can be explored at the Indianola Depot Museum. This local attraction houses artifacts, photographs, and exhibits that tell the story of the town’s development, the impact of the railroad, and the lives of the people who have called Indianola home.
Johnson County Historical Society
The Johnson County Historical Society Museum complex consists of three historic buildings with the main building and the rural schoolhouse located at one site and the Old Jail standing on its original location nearby. The main museum is housed in the historic Christian Church that was built in 1888 with pews from the original church, an organ, and pulpits displayed at the front of the building. Adjacent to the church is the restored District 73 schoolhouse. The church building includes a variety of exhibits, many of which are displayed in free-standing cases.
John G. Neihardt Center
The Neihardt Visitors’ Center includes a museum, exhibit space, library, and administrative offices.
The museum is circular, reprising the Sacred Hoop motif that was important to Neihardt and is also reflected in the Sacred Hoop Garden. Display cases house artifacts from various landmarks in Neihardt’s life: Youth, Family, Influences, Lyrics and Prose Works, Neihardt the Journalist, A Cycle of the West, Black Elk Speaks and Enduring Legacy. Featured are photographs, copies of his publications, various memorabilia, and items given to Neihardt by the Lakota holy man Black Elk.

Plus, they proudly offer audio books, cake pans, movies, magazines, and have visiting attractions. A meeting room is available for public use as well. Legacy of the Plains Museum
The Legacy of the Plains Museum, situated on the Oregon Trail, boasts a considerable collection of early, pioneer and frontier community curios and souvenirs, tractors of a bygone era, and farm implements that transport you to different time. The National Willa Cather Center
The National Willa Cather Center (NWCC) was born after a $7 million campaign to restore and adaptively reuse the historic Moon Block in downtown Red Cloud. Soon after its dedication by Former First Lady Laura Bush in 2017, the National Willa Cather Center became an award-winning archive and museum dedicated to promoting Cather’s legacy.
Nebraska Indian Community College
For the last 40 years, the Nebraska Indian Community College has been and remains dedicated to planting the seeds of knowledge through unique and culturally relevant educational experiences. These experiences are geared toward all Umonhon(Omaha), Isanti (Santee Dakota), and other learners attending classes at one of our three campuses. Nebraska National Guard Museum
The Nebraska National Guard Museum located in Seward, Nebraska, with support from the Nebraska National Guard Historical Society, collects, accesses, preserves, stores, accounts for, demilitarizes, and values historical artifacts and records for training, development, and interpretation of the Nebraska Army and Air National Guard and the State of Nebraska military history and heritage of its Citizen-Soldiers and Citizen-Airmen.

Nemaha Valley Museum, Inc.
The Nemaha Valley Museum, Inc was started as a bicentennial project in 1975 with dedication of the building on July 4, 1976. The mission of the museum is to preserve the cultural heritage of the Nemaha Valley for future generations.

Robert Henri Museum
The Robert Henri Museum is located in the boyhood home of Henri and includes a number of family pieces on display. It was restored to its 1878-79 appearance in the mid-1980s. The museum includes exhibits, period furnished rooms, a gallery and a gift shop. It is also where many of the museum’s programs take place including our receptions for our Artists in Residence, Artists of the Month, the Robert Henri Arts Festival, and our Holiday at the Henri program along with privately sponsored events.

St. Edward Library is one level, just under 5,000 square feet and fully handicap accessible from both entrances. The St. Edward Library is a member of the Nebraska Library System, and the board and librarian are accredited by the state. The library contains approximately 30,000 volumes and has an average annual circulation of 8,000.

Swedish Heritage Center
In 1985, the First Covenant Church closed it’s doors, and the building stood empty for several years. With it’s beautiful architecture and stained glass windows, something had to be done to protect it. A group of community members formed a board and decided to transform the building into a museum — the Swedish Heritage Center.

Valley Community Historical Museum
The Valley Community Historical Society was formed in 1966 along with the historical museum which showcases many items of Valley’s history. The Valley Museum is located in Valley’s first school building from 1896. The museum is open on Sundays May through September from 1PM to 3PM and by appointment.
Washington County Historical Association
The Washington County Museum has been operating since 1925 in the heart of historic Fort Calhoun, just a short drive on Highway 75 north of Omaha. We are caretakers of the oldest county museum in the state, housed in the historic Fort Calhoun State Bank building. See artifacts from the excavation of Fort Atkinson, then go 3 blocks east to tour the rebuilt fort and 1820’s military life.
